Manufacturing & Robotics Data Lab

The Manufacturing & Robotics Data Lab is a European platform designed to accelerate artificial intelligence-powered innovation in the fields of production and automation. As a collaboration involving EuroHPC Joint Undertaking AI Factories, data spaces, and other EuroHPC Data Labs, the vision of the Manufacturing & Robotics Data Lab is to collect, manage, and integrate European manufacturing- and robotics-related data, and to make them more easily available for data-driven research in science and industry. Ultimately, these resources will support the development of new artificial intelligence applications that improve manufacturing and automation.

If you are a data holder or data facilitator

AI Factories participating in the European Manufacturing & Robotics Data Lab offer a broad range of services that will make it easier to use and share data in a trustworthy manner. Relevant service offerings include:

  • Secure transport and storage of sensitive production data linked to secure computing resources
  • Large-scale data preprocessing tools and services to produce AI-ready data from collections of production and product data
  • Synthetic data generation that represents but does not contain real-world data. (This approach can protect intellectual property and address regulatory requirements related to the sharing of personal data.)
  • Integration of secure HPC infrastructure with manufacturing data spaces

If you need data for training and development of new AI applications

The lack of data availability is often an obstacle to model development. The European Manufacturing & Robotics Data Lab can serve as a trusted third-party facilitator to help AI innovators from research and industry gain access to training data. Relevant service offerings include the following areas:

  • Catalogues and pooling services for relevant manufacturing and robotics data — both public and private — to train and test AI models
  • Integration of large-scale AI infrastructure with European manufacturing data spaces
  • Data synthesis and simulation services to generate AI training data for areas of manufacturing and robotics where data are sparse

Data Spaces wanted: We’d like to hear from you!

As we build the European Manufacturing & Robotics Data Lab, we are seeking interactions with potential stakeholders such as data spaces and large-scale research and innovation projects to gain a better understanding of how the Data Lab could best address existing needs in research and industry. We are particularly interested in the following topics:

  • Product lifecycle data for AI model training
  • Synthetic & simulated data to address data sparsity
  • Foundational models for manufacturing & robotics
  • Autonomous & agentic manufacturing
  • Shopfloor and production optimization with AI
